Check in Information:
Check In: Saturday, August 10, 2013
Check in Time: 12 pm – 2pm
Location of check in – GRAND ROOM IN THE UNIVERSITY CENTER (Room Number: UC 302)
The location of check in has been changed to the grand room.
Frequently asked questions:
(Q) Why the change?
(A) The change has occurred because students from multiple groups will be checking in and they will be living all over campus. It is easier to have all students come to one central location to check in then proceed to their dorms.
(Q) Where is the University Center located? Where is the Grand Room located in the University Center?
(A) A Campus Map is attached. The Grand Room is located on the 3rd floor of the University Center (UC 302). If you are having trouble viewing the attached map please go to westerns home page and search campus map.
(Q) Once I check in with residential living what do I do?
(A) You will then proceed to the Cat Camp check in table located outside the Grand Room. At this table you will sign in on the Cat Camp check in roster, receive a schedule of what to expect for the next couple of days, receive a color coded sign to place in your car dashboard stating you are checking in for cat Camp, hand in your activity waiver or sign an activity waiver (if you forgot or had trouble printing it), and get any and all questions answered.
(Q) Will I be able to move into my dorm right away? Will my room be clean and ready for me to move in?
(A) YES: Once you have checked in at the Grand Room, and checked in at the Cat Camp table directly outside the grandroom you will be able to then proceed to your dorm and move your belongings in.
(Q) Will I receive assistance moving my belongings into my dorm room?
(A) YES: The cat camp counselors will be available to help you move belongings into your dorm. We only have 20 counselors available so help will be limited, but they will do their best. They will know you are a Cat Camper because you will receive a color coded sign that you will place in your car dashboard stating you are checking in for cat camp. Also you will know who they are because they will be wearing bright Cat Camp shirts.
(Q) Will there be carts/dollies available to assist me with move in at my dorm?
(A) NO: Unfortunately there will not be any carts/dollies available because they are rented closer to the big check in that takes place on August 16.
(Q) Where can I purchase or rent a dolly?
(A) Loews, Home depot & U-Haul allows people to rent dollies for a reasonable price.
(Q) I still have not received my housing assignment for the fall, what do I do?
(A) Please contact residential living before Saturday August 10 and speak to someone. (828) 227-7303.
(Q) I have a very strict diet and or I have very bad food allergies. Can I bring some of my own food to Cat Camp?
(A) We will have all meals and snacks provided for all students (see meals provided below), however we will not hinder you from bringing snacks that you may be more comfortable having. I contacted Bonclarken specifically to review all food allergies listed on your application. The food provided at Bonclarken is really good. We also do a huge Walmart shopping run where we purchase hundred of dollars of snack items.
(Q) What happens if I run into traffic or I am running late and cannot check in between 12 pm – 2pm?
(A) We strongly urge you to do your best to make it during the assigned check in time, but we are aware that things happen. Please contact the below emergency number(s) and inform us that you will be late. We will do our best to gather all information from residential living and see how we can best assist you.
